A Postmortem Observation in Five ceses of Anencephaly
|

Abstract
|
|
|
Detailed studies of five cases of anencephaly by necropsy observation disclosed that in each instance there were conspicuous neural and angiomatous anomalies in very close anatomic association throughout the cranial mass.
The result obstained as follows,
1. Four cases of male and one case of female ranged from seven lunar month.
2. Hyperplasia of thymus and kidney were noted in all and in two cases respectively and also hypoplasia of adrenals were found in three cases.
3. Hare lip, spina bifida occulta and myeloschisis were observed in three cases, which had one of these malformations: for each.
4. The calvaria was replaced by the hemorrhagic mass. These blood clot revealed by histology, the presence of abundant blood vessels of unusual type forming plexuses in cerebral mass.
